Winnsboro ISD School Board members met for the August regular board meeting and took action on several important items for the 2026–2027 school year.
The Board:
Approved Consent Agenda Items.
Approved annual resolutions for the Texas Agricultural Extension Service’s adjunct appointments and extracurricular status for the Upshur County and Wood County 4-H Clubs for 2026–2027.
Heard the Financial Report presented by Amber Kaltenhauser.
Approved an early release for August 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
Approved the 2026–2027 T-TESS Appraisal Calendar.
Approved the Annual Student Transportation Management Hazardous Conditions for 2026–2027.
Approved a $0.25 increase to the paid lunch price at Winnsboro Junior High and Winnsboro High School, making the new price $3.50.
Approved the Resolution for Armed Security Officers for 2026–2027.
Authorized Interim Superintendent Chris Trotter to enter into an agreement with John Brent Beaty of United Country Real Estate to proceed with the sale of excess district properties.
Approved Wood County Tax Assessor/Collector Angela Luman to serve as the Truth in Taxation Officer.
Adopted the Final Budget Amendment for Fiscal Year 2025–2026.
Adopted the 2026–2027 Annual Budget.
Approved the Debt Service Tax Rate that Exceeds the Minimum Debt Service (I&S) Rate pursuant to Section 26.05(a-1), Tax Code.
Adopted the Tax Rate pursuant to Section 26.05(b), Tax Code.
Adopted the Resolution Committing Fund Balance.
Approved the WISD Board of Trustees Operating Procedures Manual.
Denied the motion regarding the reorganization of the Board of Trustees, including the nomination, election, and appointment of Board officers.
Approved new hires for the 2026–2027 school year.
The Board also heard Superintendent Reports and Principal and Directors’ Reports highlighting a great start to the new school year from Interim Superintendent Chris Trotter.
