Superintendent's Message

A Letter from the Desk of the Superintendent…
Many changes have occurred in our district in the past year including my position as the new WISD Superintendent.  Moving forward into the 2021 school year, I am excited to be part of the continued progress and plans for the future of WISD.
Fall is quickly approaching, and it is almost time for our students to return to the classroom.  WISD staff has been working diligently this summer to get classrooms packed up and furniture and equipment moved to their new buildings.
The new high school is near completion and looks incredible.  Thank you so much to my predecessor for all of her hard work and dedication to the community of Winnsboro. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Ms. Morton this summer during the transition. I am excited to be a part of the Winnsboro community, and I look forward to meeting everyone and becoming active in this wonderful community as soon as circumstances allow.
We are all facing an unprecedented situation as we plan to reopen our community, churches, businesses, and schools.  We still have many unanswered questions as we plan to move forward.  It is refreshing and reassuring how wonderful our community, staff, and students have responded to this fast-changing unprecedented situation.
In preparation for the upcoming school year, administrators and staff have been working hard developing a plan for on-campus activities and instruction as well as remote learning. Determining best practices for student and staff safety are top priorities as we make plans to return to school.  We understand that the 2020-2021 school year will look different a little different. At WISD, we truly appreciate the patience and understanding presented by our community as we navigate through this together.
School personnel are also in the process of working with city officials to coordinate traffic flow for our new campus, and we will release guidelines in the near future.  We understand that there was some concern regarding school drop-off and pick-up but we are working hard to develop a plan that will work efficiently for everyone.
In the short amount of time that I have had the privilege to be a part of Winnsboro ISD, I have been overly impressed by the quality of staff within the district.  The students that I have had the opportunity to meet have been impressive and the folks in Winnsboro are amazing.  My family and I have been welcomed with open arms, and we look forward to many more years being a part of the Winnsboro family.  In parting, I would like to say thank you to Mrs. Susan Morton, who has done so many great things for the students and community of Winnsboro.
