Winnsboro Independent School District is celebrating an exciting season of student success, with Raiders excelling across academics, fine arts, athletics, and career-focused programs. From state-level academic competitions to national championships, WISD students continue to demonstrate excellence, dedication, and Raider pride.
Leading the way in academics, freshmen Tyler James and Liam Lewis earned second place at the UIL District Debate competition, an impressive accomplishment that qualifies them for the UIL State Championship Meet in March. Competing at such a high level early in their high school careers is a testament to their hard work and bright futures at Winnsboro High School. This achievement marks a strong start to the UIL academic season for the district.
In fine arts, Christian Patneaude and Madilyn Moss represented Winnsboro ISD with distinction by earning All-State Band honors, placing them among the top student musicians in Texas. Their dedication and talent reflect the strength of WISD’s music program and commitment to student excellence.
Winnsboro ISD’s FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics teams also continue to make their mark. Raider Prime 16756 and Raider Omega 27340 both had strong performances at their final league meet. Adding to the excitement, Winnsboro High School will host E League’s first-ever tournament in East Texas on Saturday, January 30. This advancing tournament will provide multiple opportunities for East Texas teams to qualify for the Super Qualifier and the North Texas Regional Tournament, an exciting milestone for both the district and the region.
On the national stage, Winnsboro ISD students achieved extraordinary success at the National Meat Judging Competition held in Fort Collins, Colorado, during the National Western Roundup in Denver. The Winnsboro team earned the title of National FFA Champions, taking home first place overall as a team. Individually, Makenzy Driver placed second high overall, first in retail, and first in grading. Wyatt Moss and Trey Wetzel tied for third place in placing. As a team, they earned first place in placing, second place in retail, and fourth place in grading. The championship team consisted of Makenzy Driver, Wyatt Moss, and Trey Wetzel, and their accomplishment is a source of immense pride for Raider Nation.
Athletics are also thriving at Winnsboro ISD, as the Lady Raiders Basketball team remains undefeated in district play, showcasing teamwork, determination, and a competitive spirit that continues to energize the community. Our Red Raider Basketball team is also off to a strong start this season, capturing the Rivercrest Tournament title and posting an impressive 2–1 record in district play.
These accomplishments reflect the incredible talent, dedication, and support that define Winnsboro ISD, the district shared. We are extremely proud of all of our students and grateful for the teachers, coaches, sponsors, and families who support them every step of the way.
As the year continues, Winnsboro ISD looks forward to even more opportunities to celebrate student achievement and Raider pride across all campuses.
