The Winnsboro High School BBQ Team recently competed in the Regional Cookoff at Waco LaVega High School, where they displayed their culinary skills and expertise. Their hard work paid off as they clinched the Grand Champion Chili title at the National High School BBQ Association Regional contest. This impressive win has secured a spot for the entire WHS BBQ team in the NHSBBQA State competition scheduled on May 2-4 in Burnet. Their commitment to excellence and teamwork has been truly commendable.
In the realm of performing arts, the WHS One-Act Play team captivated audiences with their rendition of "Mockingbird." Their stellar performance earned them the title of District Alternate, with notable achievements including an All-Star cast member, an All-Star tech member, and two honorable mention cast members. Their dedication to the craft and ability to bring stories to life on stage reflect the talent and passion present within the WHS community.
Not to be outdone, the Winnsboro High School band showcased their musical prowess on both local and national stages. During a recent workshop at Universal Studios in Florida, the band immersed themselves in the world of cinema as they played, voiced, and created sound effects for a movie soundtrack. Additionally, they participated in a pre-UIL contest at Bullard where they earned a prestigious sweepstakes award, demonstrating their musical excellence and commitment to artistic expression.
