Superintendent's Message

Welcome to a new school year at Winnsboro Independent School District!  I am excited about all of the great things 2016-17 has to offer to our outstanding students.  Entering into my third year as your superintendent and my 20th year as an administrator in WISD, I am committed to working with the Board of Trustees, parents, teachers, support staff and community members to insure that we educate the ‘whole child’, and provide them with the best education possible.

I am passionate about the new programs we are putting into place this year.  We will see UIL competition for our Robotics team;  WES will have a specialized technology teacher working with students and teachers to integrate many technology uses in all areas of our curriculum.  Across the district, we have added over 100 devices such as Chromebooks and iPads in our endeavor to become a 1:1 school for technology per student.  The success of our Special Education Department being brought back to our home district last year was amazing.  To continue to enhance our service to our students and parents, we have added a second Diagnostician.  This will also allow our teachers to have individualized training for working with our students so that they thrive in inclusion classes.

Just as our mission statement says, “Winnsboro Independent School District fosters a community of life-long learners by providing an environment that builds self-worth, integrity, and respect for others while striving for academic and social excellence.”

I am honored to be part of this dynamic school district and outstanding community.  Let's all work together to make this school year rewarding and exciting for the children we serve.

Susan Morton,

Superintendent of Schools
