WISD Announces New Head Football and Girls Basketball Coaches

Most recently, Coach Finney has served as Head Football Coach and Athletic Director for Mount Vernon ISD. Finney has also served as Head Coach and Athletic Director for Hull-Daisetta ISD, Teague ISD and Maud ISD. He also worked for Mesquite-Poteet ISD as Assistant Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.

In his 10 years as head coach, Finney has an 86-32 record that includes, 7 district championships, 1 state semi-final, 1 state quarter-final and 1 regional semi-final. Finney has also been named district coach-of-the-year 7 times.

Finney graduated from Winnsboro High School in 1997 and went on to attend Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas where he played defensive end for the football team and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. Finney is married to Brittany, and together they have two boys, Kaden and Kyler.

Coach Cochran has served as Head Girls Basketball Coach for Longview ISD since 2017. Prior to Longivew ISD, Cochran served as Head Girls Basketball Coach and Girls Athletic Coordinator for Texarkana ISD and Liberty-Eylau ISD.

Cochran’s overall girls’ basketball coaching record is 493-164 and includes 1 state championship, 1 state finalist appearance, 1 state semi-final appearance, 12 regional tournament appearances, 15 district championships and 15 district coach-of-the-year awards.

Cochran graduated from Liberty-Eylau High School and went on to attend Texas A&M University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a specialization in sports medicine. He then attended Stephen F. Austin University where he earned his certificate in Secondary Education.
